FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION Information Package Definitions
Fırat University Faculty of Communication was established with the decision of the Council of Ministers numbered 97/9930 published in the Official Gazette dated September 19, 1997 and numbered 23115, and started its academic activities in the 2001-2002 academic year.

Our faculty provides education in four departments: Radio, Television and Cinema, Public Relations and Promotion, Journalism and Visual Communication Design. In 2009-2010, students were admitted to the Radio, Television and Cinema Department evening education; Public Relations and Promotion Department evening education; and Public Relations and Promotion Department evening education programs in 2010-2011. With the admission of students to the Journalism department in the 2013-2014 academic year and to the Visual Communication Design department in the 2019-2020 academic year, all our departments became active.

In addition to undergraduate education, the Department of Communication Sciences within our faculty offers master's and doctorate degrees; There are also postgraduate programs in Radio, Television, Cinema and Journalism.

Our faculty has a strong infrastructure that allows students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice. One of our application units, Fırat Radio-TV, which dates back to 1991, supports our students' development in the field of visual media. In addition, the strong local media environment in Elazığ offers important internship and application opportunities for our students. Fırat Haber, the application newspaper published within our faculty and prepared both in print and digital, contributes to the development of students' news writing and journalism practices.

Our faculty, which aims to train communicators who are committed to Atatürk's principles and reforms, contemporary, who have adopted the basic principles of the state and are equipped with cultural values; has a total of 29 academic staff, including 6 professors, 6 associate professors, 6 assistant professors, 2 lecturers and 9 research assistants; and 36 administrative staff. As of the 2024-2025 academic year, 1866 students are receiving education in our faculty.
